Our mission
The mission of the Rutherford B. H. Yates Museum is to promote preservation, education, archaeology, and research of African Diaspora history, focusing on the period of enslavement and post-slavery era in Houston’s Freedmen’s Town, the Gulf Coast Region of Texas, and their connections to other regions in the world.
